Carols in the Corn Market raises over £1,100 for Minster Funds...
Carols in the Corn Market, took place inside Wimborne Minster due to the inclement weather. This did not stop people from attending as in spite of the rain they came in large numbers so much so that the start was delayed as we tried to get everyone into The Minster. Wimborne Minster seats 550 but over 1,000 huddled in with still more queuing outside.
The singing of the Carols was accompanied by the Broadstone Community Concert Band under the direction of Damon Corio and the Minster Choristers under the direction of Colin Davey, Organist and Director of the Choirs at The Minster.
The event was sponsored by The Wimborne BID and Optique 2000 who covered the cost of Posters and Handbills for Advertising the Event and for the Carol Sheets.
Special Thanks were expressed to Radio Wimborne who had set up the Public Address system and also to Verger John Hughes who was standing by as the First Aider and to Town Crier Chris Brown for being in the Corn Market advising people of the change of venue.
A collection taken for Wimborne Minster Funds raised £1,124.
In spite of the event moving inside so late in the day, we need to say a big thank you to everyone involved to make the event possibly the most attended Carols in the Corn Market to date.
Let us hope that the weather will be favourable for an outside event next year when the date will be Friday 19th December 2025.
